Therapeutic Massage Treatments

Therapeutic Massage Therapy is defined as the manipulation of soft tissue (such as muscle, fascia and body fluids) to restore normal systemic and biomechanical/functional use. It can be used to assist in the treatment of most musculo-skeletal and associated problems, and regular Therapeutic Massage Therapy results in improved circulatory, lymphatic and neurological functioning.

Julie has been a Massage Therapist since 2009 and graduated with from Everest College of Business Technology and Health Care, in Hamilton and joined The Main West Massage team in May 2013. A strong believer in continuing education, Julie has additional training in Deep Tissue Massage , Hot Stone Massage, MyoFascial Release, Reflexology, PreNatal Massage and Cupping. Julie uses a variety of pressures and techniques, depending on the needs of the individual and their intention for their treatment. She works mostly with the skeletal and fascial systems, and incorporates Swedish massage for neurological and metabolic benefits. Julie works with the body’s pace, and takes time to allow for the body to correct itself. She encourages clients to be engaged in their own treatments, and finds each client’s internal knowledge to be a great asset in the process. Julie’s other passions include baseball, bowling , gardening and spending quality time with her family. Volunteering at the Jerseyville United Church and the Ancaster Agricultural Society. Karen holds a Bachelor of Physical Education from McMaster University and graduated in 2002 from the Canadian Therapeutic College and Hydrotherapy in Burlington. She is a Certified Active Release Provider, Contemporary Acupuncture for Health Care provider, and Kinesio-Tape provider. Currently a board member of the National and Provincial Canadian Sport Massage Therapy Association,

Karen has worked with athletes at the local level in their developmental stages, to University, international and professional level athletes at the FISU games in Naples, Italy 2019 and South Korea in 2015, Canada Summer Games in Winnipeg , Manitoba 2017, Pan American Games in Hamilton 2015, World Junior Track and Field Championships in New Brunswick 2015, Para-Olympic Athletes in Vancouver in 2004. Karen has been selected for the 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympic Games as part of the Core Medical Team.

Along with her current practice at Main West Massage, Karen treats all conditions from headaches, muscle tightness, to post-operative joint replacements. She combines and incorporates many different techniques from ART, Cupping , Fascial work, and modalities heat/cold and acupuncture to provide specific care to each of her clients to provide the most effective treatments possible.
